Exclusive| For the first time ever since he stepped down Mubarak speaks for Elwatan

Elwatan reporter Mohamed Elsheik who was covering the retrial of Mubarak arrived in the premises of the court (the police academy previously known as Mubarak’s security academy) two hours late. This, by chance, was the same time when the former president arrived in the Helicopter and rushed in an ambulance that took him to a heavily guarded waiting room before he was summoned to attend the hearing. Elwatan reporter , armed with a lot courage, , tactfulness and good luck, managed to get into the waiting Helicopter and took a few photos from within the small airplane that no one has ever seen after a short talk with the guards and the crew. He took a few photos too for the empty ambulance before he decided on a more risky and courageous initiative: he found his way , despite the heavy security, into the inside of the empty waiting room of the former president who was standing then behind the bars during the hearing. All of a sudden he found himself face to face with the jailed old Pharaoh who returned for the waiting room for a while before taken back into the court. A welcome smile on the ex-president’s face encouraged Elwatan reporter to dash a few questions. Mubark who was happy to talk said “I am very sorry and sad for poor Egyptian citizens. I am not as sad for myself as I am sad for the factories going out of business. You can’t imagine how frustrated I feel when I see the new communities I built collapse, and insecurity and chaos plaguing Egypt”.[FirstQuote] With a sad smile, the ex-president continued “history will judge us all and I am very sure the coming generations will do my justice. But regardless of me, I am very unhappy for the low income citizens and how miserable they have become now. They have always been a main concern and a top priority during my rule. I always avoided any decision that might have negatively affected them. Their current misery is the reason I am very unhappy” Giving a long sigh Mubarak continued, “I am really worried about that IMF loan the current government is negotiating. The IMF conditions are very tough and will jeopardize the Egyptian economy and definitely the welfare of poor classes later”[SecondQuote] The former president declined a question about his opinion on president Mohamed Morsi‘s performance so far. “I’d rather not comment. However, he is a new president facing huge responsibilities. We should not judge him now. It is a bit early” he said. One of his companions asked how he evaluated President Morsi foreign trips. “I am very upset at the humble reception and treatment of the Egyptian president. He does not receive the due reception of an Egyptian president” replied ailing Mubarak.[ThirdQuote] Once the hearing was over Mubarak was rushed from waiting room to his airplane . The president who was in a good shape and obviously high spirits allowed Elwatan to accompany him until he got into the waiting ambulance. He made sure to greet everyone on his way. The former president however complained at the modest ambulance. The former president’s health is much better now according to one of his doctors. Some unclassified medical sources said the medical equipment in Mubarak ‘s helicopter is 10 years old unlike the well-equipped plane that flew him from Sharm ElSheik back to Cairo for his first trial. The hi-tech and comfortable ambulance The military allocated for him more than a year ago has also been replaced by a much less modern one( an ambulance that belongs to Police Hospital in the downtown Agouza district.“ I am very exhausted” were the last words of the man who ruled Egypt for 30 years before he stepped down on 18th February in the wake of 25th January uprising against him. He was soon was taken into the helicopter on his way back to prison and unknown destiny
